Foster Grandparents are role models, mentors and friends. They serve in area schools, Head Start Centers and youth facilities helping children learn to read, providing one on one tutoring and guiding children at a critical time in their lives. To Join the program you must be over the age of 55, willing to serve 15-40 hours a week and living on an income below $1,805 a month for a single person and $2,428 a month for a couple and pass a background screening. For their service Foster Grandparents receive a stipend of $2.65 an hour, mileage reimbursement and training.
