Who are Foster Grandparents

Foster Grandparents are role models, mentors and friends. They serve in area schools, preschools and youth facilities helping children learn to read, providing one-on-one academic tutoring and guiding children at a critical time in their lives.

Who qualifies fo be a Foster Grandparent

To enroll in the Foster Grandparent Program you must be:
55 years of age or older
Willing to serve 15-40 hours per week
Pass an FBI fingerprint check
Have a monthly income below $1,805 per month for a single or $2,428 for a couple.

Benefits to being a Foster Grandparent

Foster Grandparents receive:
A stipend of $2.65 per hour. This stipend is tax-free, is not considered income and will not affect services you may be receiving.
Mileage reimbursement
A free meal during service hours
Training
Placement close to your home
